BRIEFING
Jett here. Hollywood is a cesspool, and Will Smith is swimming in the deep end. The uglier part is that he helped his own son get into the pool. He tried to build a Smith dynasty by handing Jaden the lead role in the family legacy plan, and what was supposed to cement the Smith name on the Walk of Fame ended up blowing up and crushing his kid. This wasn’t just a bad movie flop. It was a father’s ego, a son’s trust, and one very public lesson in what happens when a parent confuses opportunity with destiny. Let’s get into it.
There’s a version of this story that’s easy to tell, and it’s the lazy one.
Rich Hollywood kid gets handed big roles because his dad’s Will Smith. The movie flops. Everybody laughs. Nepo baby takes the hit, bla, bla, bla.
That’s the simple version, but it’s not what really happened.
The more interesting and true version is about Will Smith, his psycho ambition, inflated ego, and the way a powerful parent can accidentally turn a child into a delivery machine for his legacy.
By the time Will started pushing Jaden as the next big thing, he wasn’t just a movie star. He was one of the biggest stars on earth. He knew the business and how to package charm, timing, marketing, discipline, and mass appeal into something that looked unbeatable.
So when he put Jaden in front of the world, it didn’t look weird. It looked like a father using his power to help his son become a household name.
But there’s a difference between opening a door and pushing a kid into a room he can’t survive.
That’s where the After Earth project comes in.
On the surface, this movie looked like a Smith family power move. But the story was way too on the nose... a legendary father, a young son trying to live up to him, and a dangerous journey where the boy has to prove he can handle the pressure.
The problem is that real life was a carbon copy of the movie in the worst possible way.
Jaden walked in, already engulfed in his father’s giant ego shadow.
The project was supposed to help launch Jaden into the next phase of his career and was going to be part of a much bigger franchise vision. A vision that sounds positively insane. But when the movie crashed, Will didn’t feel the blowback. His son did. The public treated this kid like the face of failure.
Will admitted in his memoir that Jaden trusted him, and he followed his guidance... and all of that trust and following ended up creating the worst public mauling Will had ever seen. He also admitted that Jaden felt betrayed and lost his trust.
This is a crazy Hollywood story about a kid being shoved head-first into a wood chipper before he had the ability to handle it.
And when the whole thing blew up and went to hell, the world didn’t mock the dad who created the mess.
They mocked the kid.

Scientology, and Jaden’s complete lack of talent screwed Jaden Smith, not his father. Did you not notice Jett, that the guy who made this blame shifting video is almost certainly a Scientologist? Are you one Jett? This whole thing reeks of blame shifting and an attempt to resurrect Jaden “look at me” Smith as a “celebrity”. Nobody would have ‘hated’ Jaden until he opened his mouth spewing arrogant narcissistic diatribes. That is when people shifted from pity to intense dislike.
