The meltdown starts when assistance gets mistaken for entitlement.

Food stamps were built for groceries, not a taxpayer-funded convenience aisle.

When cooking from scratch feels like oppression, the program has lost the plot.

BRIEFING

Grant here. This has been long overdue. Finally, the government is saying "enough" and telling EBT recipients that the gravy train is coming to an end. Literally. As a result, people are flipping out over the new reforms. They can no longer buy candy, soda, or even a premade croissant. That's right, folks, it's time to tighten the apron strings and start learning how to actually make real food. Let’s break it down.

An X post shows a woman raging over the new reforms to her SNAP benefits, saying, “I can’t even use my EBT for croissants or pre-made chicken now?” and “So now I gotta cook from scratch?”

Then she drops the line, "So you guys better be Betty Crocker coming around the corner and start learning some stuff, because you ain't gonna be eating."

These poor people really are oppressed, eh?

DEBRIEFING

The outrage we're seeing here isn't really about croissants or rotisserie chicken. It's a reflection of how bloated and ridiculous EBT has become over the years.

This woman, no offense, clearly isn't starving, and she's not saying, “I can’t buy food.” She's basically saying, “I can’t buy the prepared or convenience food I want with taxpayer-funded benefits.”

As we've seen, a majority of people on SNAP are massively overweight, which is largely a result of being able to buy pre-made junk without any barriers. Well, now the guardrails are up and people are freaking out, having to actually learn about real food for the first time in years. Or possibly in their entire lives.

SNAP was built around food assistance, not lifestyle convenience. The program still covers basic groceries, ingredients, staples, meats, dairy, produce, bread, cereal, and plenty of foods people can use to feed a household.

So, it's time for everyone to put the privilege aside and maybe start channeling their inner Betty Crocker.

NOW YOU KNOW

EBT reform didn't create hardship. It exposed entitlement.
