SNAP isn’t a safety net. It’s a trap lined with sugar.

They call it assistance, but it’s really addiction in disguise.

BRIEFING
Grant here. With all the noise surrounding the government shutdown and its impact on SNAP benefits, Americans are getting a harsh reminder of how a negative EBT balance can send society into complete turmoil. But there’s a bigger story hidden beneath all the chaos, one that’s been quietly unfolding for years. SNAP isn’t just feeding America’s poor; it’s also slowly killing them. Let’s break it down.
A new discussion between Adam Carolla and Dr. Drew just brought this uncomfortable truth back into the spotlight: the more people rely on SNAP, the heavier and less healthy they tend to be. Data shows that women who use EBT are, on average, more than 60 pounds heavier than women who don’t.
This raises a simple but brutal question... how can a program designed to fight hunger be fueling a health crisis?

ADAM CAROLLA: “The average female who gets no free food from the government is 146 lbs. The average SNAP recipient is 211 lbs … Nobody could benefit from a nice fast more than SNAP recipients.”

But, again, this isn’t just something that affects women. It’s hitting men, boys, girls, and even the elderly. Everyone, young and old, is seeing their health decline under this program. And what’s worse, the government openly admits it.
A recent USDA study laid out the numbers, and let me tell ya, they're not pretty...
SOURCE
Overall, SNAP participants had a higher prevalence of obesity (39 percent) than income-eligible (35 percent) and higher income (31 percent) nonparticipants but results varied by age and gender.
• Boys participating in SNAP had a lower prevalence of obesity than income-eligible nonparticipants (18 versus 26 percent).
• Among adult men, SNAP participants had a higher prevalence of obesity than income-eligible nonparticipants (37 versus 32 percent).
• Girls and adult women participating in SNAP were more likely to be obese compared to their higher income nonparticipant age cohorts. Among adult women, SNAP participants also had a higher rate of obesity compared to income-eligible nonparticipants (52 versus 40 percent).
• Regression-adjusted estimates showed no significant differences in rates of overweight or obesity in children or adults between SNAP participants and nonparticipants. Older adult SNAP participants were less likely to be overweight or obese compared to income-eligible non-participants.
So while the media and liberals keep pushing the idea that these programs are about “fighting hunger,” the truth is it looks a lot more like government-funded obesity.
But why is this happening? Why does receiving government money for food so often translate into packing on the pounds? It turns out SNAP recipients are not just more likely to buy junk food; they are practically encouraged to.
This all appears to be a vicious circle where the USDA, major food companies, and the pharmaceutical industry are all reaping the benefits.
$1 spent on SNAP there’s $3 on the back end in healthcare costs. Government is paying for the demise of its own citizens and big pharma is getting paid.
Let that sink in. pic.twitter.com/yKy5siDauZ

DEBRIEFING
At the end of the day, SNAP was built to “fight hunger,” but it’s evolved into a bloated system that keeps people hooked on absolute junk. And who benefits? Big Food, Big Pharma, and the politicians they bankroll.
The USDA has known for years that a massive chunk of SNAP dollars goes straight into processed snacks, sugary drinks, and fast food. But still they refuse to reform the system. Why? Because the moment they do, the lobbyists start calling. Every soda, chip, and candy manufacturer has their hand in this pie, and they’re making billions off America’s most vulnerable citizens.
So when you look at the numbers, the obesity rates, the diabetes spikes, and the heart disease trends, it’s not hard to see what’s really going on. SNAP isn’t saving lives. It’s shortening them. The program is feeding poverty instead of fixing it, fattening up the very people it claims to help while draining taxpayers dry.
NOW YOU KNOW
SNAP isn’t fighting hunger... it’s feeding disease.

They are all very obese in their videos. It’s outrageous! Snap should not be buying junk food. The recipients appear to be democrats from their video comments. Maybe Schumer should help them?
Schumer and the democrats are just helping themselves using taxpayer money. Now they complain that “babies aren’t getting fed” and blaming republicans.
Hell’s Bells, Schumer DOES help them. It’s the demorrhoids in Congress who come up with all the welfare nonsense. The gimmiedats suck it up and keep voting to re-elect them and keep their gravy train rolling.
i have medical issues i cant work the ssdi is less than $1000 a month 6’2 at 140lbs what does it matter what i buy with the little $200 a month ebt card im out of food usually before the ebt is reloaded anyway and why do you even care what i buy with it. i think people talking about this dont really know what their talking about. at the same time illegal immigrants have nice place to stay new vehicles both paid for by us tax payers when i can barely scrape by living in a old ran down 5th wheel and have old beater vehicle you should know also seems like the illegals get 10x the amount i get on their on their ebt cards each month, maybe thats where your frustrations should be focused, i know mine do bc i payed taxes about 20 years of my life. tell me how that makes any sense.
Same boat here. Worked all my adult life. Served my county. Paid my taxes. I weigh 140 @ 5’9″. I get 90 F’ing dollars a MONTH from SNAP. Show me ANYONE who could live on 90 dollars worth of food a month and be healthy. Shit. Junk food and sodas ARE your best option at that price point. I can’t even look a a pack of Ramen noodles without fighting the urge to puke.
Don’t sweat it, bro! All these shitbirds squawking about how we spend our stipend will be in the very same boat WE are now. Unlike US, however, THEY will become immediately violent. Then we can sit back in poor comfort and watch them kill each other over scraps. I won’t lift one finger to help them. Karma. It IS a bitch.
Thanks for your service, Squid. The thing is, many of us who are working hard to support others like you, through the theft of our tax dollars, this gets us in a certain frame of mind. Instead of wasting what little money we have left, we’re wisely squirreling it away. We’re taking a BAD situation, and trying not to let it get worse. So no, we will NOT be in the same boat as you. Because we don’t THINK like you do. It’s your THINKING (and the siren song of our “free” money) that got you in this spot in the first place. Time to change how you think.
It’s just a little $200 EBT card, what difference does it make if we take it away then? See, the thing is, you and many others have grown DEPENDENT on it. It’s an ADDICTION. They take OUR money, give it to YOU, you get accustomed to it, and now, WE’RE the bad guys, for putting YOUR entitlement “at risk”. I work for MY money. WORK, as in, have a job. (I ALSO have “medical issues”. See how that works?) I get ZERO say in the matter, when multiple government agencies swoop in and skim off 30-40% of the money that *I* worked for. Having done this for my entire adult life, over 40 years, I really appreciate the concept that maybe we should be applying some scrutiny to where MY money goes. If this doesn’t sit well with you, may I suggest, GET A JOB?! It’s long past time for you to start pulling a little of your OWN weight. You are not ENTITLED to my labor. I trust if push came to shove, you’d figure it out. So consider this your wake-up call. And fear not, ICE is doing a great job of cleaning this up from the other end…
Once you start giving free stuff you get more people wanting more free stuff. Pretty soon they demand it. Or else.
this is gov propaganda most people i know on food stamps run out half way through the month
Obese? They are FAT pieces of Democrat mierda.
Where’s all those wealthy blacks I see in TV commercials? I’m sure they will step up and save the day.
This is NOT “government-funded gluttony”…it’s TAXPAYER-funded gluttony. WE’RE paying for it – where does “government” get it’s money? FROM US!
How’s that make ya feel? These people, the majority able-bodied and capable of working to pay for their own food, are getting fat on YOUR dime.
i do strongly agree if a person is not in seriously bad condition like on the verge of dying or no arms and legs or have real mental problems (some depression or whatever is not one of them) then they need to work like everyone else, being obese is not a cause to not work its a reason to work more. Then illegals taking up the food insurance all the housing and everything else is the same stealing from those who did work and pay taxes bottom line
My husband and I served in the military and are both disabled now. We get $23/month in food stamps and both of our physical frames/weight are in the lowest 5th percentile. We can’t afford food, so we homestead, raise chickens, ducks, and rabbits for meat, along with hunting and grow our own food for preservation just to get by.
Thank you for your service, Cam. I’m sorry that your life is difficult due to your disabilities. You say that you’re able to raise chickens, ducks, and rabbits for meat, along with hunting for and growing your own food. It sounds like a lot of hard, physical work. At that rate, wouldn’t it make sense for both of you to get jobs in, say, the financial or customer service areas? Would be less work, and you could afford the food without having to produce it yourself. For many, I think the opposition to SNAP looks something like this: if you get something for free, you might not feel the pinch to do something for yourself. So this grows, and the taxpayers pay more. And on and on, until we have an entire segment of the population being supported by the rest of us.
That’s why we are going bankrupt right under your noses. Don’t cry when it happens.
